Matsushita Konosuke once said: “the most valuable asset of the company is human”, here at xsperaApac, prioritizing our people in organization development process is and will always be one our proudest culture that we want to embrace with all our colleagues.
On the way to strengthening the existing internal bond, some of the missteps that xsperaApac has experienced in operation management and organization development, especially in the Covid-19 pandemic time, are remarkable. We had difficulties in fighting for our people’s occupation and, there were fewer partnership during pandemic as everyone was struggling. Covid-19 requires agile adaptation and quick, yet effective decisions to cope with sudden changes. When we jogged down the memory lane, some decisions might not be the best but it surely was the most necessary at the time, it did teach us unforgettable morals for our Human Resources Department specifically and xspera APAC in general.

If the relationship between our people and xsperaApac was like a story, it would be a love story. It all started with the melodies of the souls, companion and then split paths. Even though the sad ending was pre-known, xsperaApac would always be grateful for all of the companionships that we have had since the company first started, thank you for the opportunities to reflect ourselves, to understand what should have been done better and what we have done best, in order to become the new xsperaApac in the future, stronger than ever.
We prioritize not only our people, but we also emphasize the reverence towards each other. Respecting the diversity, respecting the hard work and the tribute of everyone. We acknowledged all the efforts that you have been secretly giving and we are forever grateful.
According to the World Economic Forum, emotional intelligence (EQ) is voted to become one of the top 10 essential skills not only for leaders, but also for those who are on the way to improve themselves, xsperaApac was not an exception. Learning from the mistake that took place in the pandemic time, EQ was the key solution to the struggle between two individuals that xsperaApac would want to share:
    • Emotional Self Control: effectively manage and tone down negative emotions when it comes to difficulties or struggles. Maintaining the positive attitude and the positive outlook to accept the challenge and find the solution. In our case, lack of connection between our employees, high turn-over rate, and financial problems. Therefore, we learn how to acknowledge problems to adjust priorities and strategies.
    • Social awareness: improve the employees’ connection based on empathy, being listened, and being understood. With this purpose, we are implementing EQ in organization and define strategy to bring the team back together using our core values.
    • Relationship management: becoming more flexible to solve the conflict between employees with the right decision to find the middle ground to reach mutual satisfaction. Moreover, improving the leadership inspiration skill, to motivate our people to deal with Covid-19 together.

While we are growing with our core values – teamwork, integrity, persistence, innovation, etc., the very first step on implementing EQ into our organization has started to be flourished. We hold biweekly workshops to share, to train to improve the interconnection within xsperaApac, enrich not only their technical skills but also their soft skills are taken into account. Moreover, we encourage our team leaders to share technical knowledge to their colleagues, urges the eager to learn and to share the experiences. Adding on to that, recurrent English Sharing Corner where our people get to learn the updated English trends to help them engage internationally. These workshops fortunately receive positive feedbacks, make it become a part of our organization culture.

When we looked back what have happened, those problems and those challenges during pandemic time could only make us stronger. We practiced what we preached, maintaining a positive attitude to approach any issue – this is one of the essential skills in EQ, with the purpose of filter out the negativity to have a desired team.

The positive impact comes from the effort of continuously connect our employees has brought in a fresh breeze, we succeeded in creating a more fun environment, where everyone comes together to laugh, to learn and to share, the spirit of co-build the company, because of that, has rocketed. Reflecting and learning from mistakes in the past help us become better in the future which xsperaApac has always done and will continue doing to create even better products and services.
It is undeniable that each and individual’s success proves human resources’ accomplishment specifically and the organization in general. To build an assured foundation, every employee at xsperaApac has the opportunity to grow their own way and with the corporate’s core values.
Daniel Goleman, the author of “Emotional Intelligence”, once said: “IQ and technical skills are important but Emotional Intelligence is the sine qua non of leadership”. By nurturing and building organization culture based on humanity and “love” factors. We wish for all the warriors of xsperaApac to become renowned leaders in the near future and we wish for our former employees to find the suitable environment where you could succeed. xsperaApac is forever grateful for everything.

IQ and technical skills are important but Emotional Intelligence is the sine qua non of leadership.
